Privacy Policy

We collect no personal information such as your name, email address, phone number or advertising identifier, and we never ask you to create an account.

We operate no server of our own. Your settings, calendar, reminders, destinations and watchlist stay on your device; the only information that leaves it is the anonymous usage statistics described in section 5.

Whether each briefing is enabled, its time window, item order, destinations (home and work), watchlist tickers, voice speed and media selection are kept in the app's private storage area on your device.

This information is deleted along with the app. We cannot access it.

Weather, traffic and stock quotes are requested by the app directly from the relevant providers at playback time. No server of ours is involved.

Each request carries only the minimum values needed to obtain that information (for example, coordinates or a ticker symbol), and each provider's own policy governs its handling. The providers are Apple (WeatherKit for weather, Maps for travel time, Apple Music for the stations and playlists you pick) and Yahoo Finance for stock quotes.

The mail item stays off until you connect a mailbox yourself. Connecting is optional, and every other briefing item works without it.

Gmail is connected with Google sign-in, and the only permission the app requests is the gmail.metadata scope. With that scope the app reads the unread totals of two labels, INBOX and IMPORTANT, and nothing more. It cannot read the subject, sender, body or attachments of any message, and it never requests them. The two numbers stay in memory only long enough to speak a single sentence — “You have 12 unread emails, 3 of them marked important” — and are then discarded. They are not stored, not logged, and not transmitted to us or to anyone else.

Daily Wave's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Naver, Daum, iCloud and Yahoo! JAPAN publish no equivalent sign-in, so they are connected over IMAP using an app-specific password you generate on that provider's own site. The password is held in your device's Keychain and is sent only to that provider's mail server. The app issues no FETCH command, so message content never reaches it on this path either; it reads only the unread count and how many of those are flagged.

You can disconnect at any time in the app, which deletes the stored token or app password from your device. A Google connection can also be revoked at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

By default, briefing audio is generated on your device by the speech synthesis built into it. In that mode the briefing text is never sent anywhere.

The app does not use the microphone and does not record your voice.

The AI voice is optional and off unless you turn it on. When it is on, the briefing text is sent to Google's Gemini API using an API key you obtain and enter yourself, which is stored only on your device and never reaches us. Google's own policy governs that request, and on Google's free tier the text you send may be used to improve their services. The generated audio is kept on your device so the same briefing is not sent twice; you can clear it, or switch back to the device voice, at any time in voice settings.

The app carries no advertising and no advertising SDK. It does not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA) and does not request App Tracking Transparency (ATT) consent. Your data is never used to track you across other companies' apps or websites.

To understand which screens and features are used, the app sends anonymous usage events — screen views, feature taps, app language and which briefings are enabled — to Google Analytics 4. Each installation is distinguished by a random identifier generated on your device; it is tied to no account, name or contact detail, and it carries none of the content of your calendar, reminders, location or watchlist. Google's handling of these events is governed by its own privacy policy.

Sending these statistics is optional. Turning off Settings → Privacy → “Share usage analytics” in the app stops every event immediately and discards anything still waiting to be sent.

Every feature of the app is free. Optional tips are offered to support development; they are processed by Apple's In-App Purchase, so we never receive your card number or other payment details. When a tip completes, the app records only the product identifier and the fact of the purchase as an analytics event.

Because we hold no information that identifies you, there is no data subject to a request for access, correction or deletion. You can stop the usage statistics at any time with the switch in Settings → Privacy, and you can remove on-device information by resetting the app's settings or deleting the app; deleting the app also removes the random analytics identifier.

Location, calendar, reminder and health permissions can be withdrawn at any time in your device's system settings; only the corresponding briefing items stop being provided.

The app is not directed primarily at children, and it collects no information identifying an individual from anyone, regardless of age. The usage statistics described in section 5 contain nothing that identifies a person.

If this policy changes, we will post the effective date and the nature of the change on this page. Significant changes will also be announced with the app update notes.
